Linda Cancellieri
Linda Cancellieri, Director of Music, came to Trinity in 2002 to fill a interim position. After serving in permanent positions at Belleview Baptist Church, Cameron UMC and Wesley UMC in Chevy Chase, she took interim positions over the next nine years in several denominations as organist/director. Trinity was special—the traditional music program, the warm and friendly congregation, the talented musicians and the Holtkamp organ in a wonderful acoustic setting convinced her that it was time to turn the interim into a permanent position.
Linda directs the adult, handbell and children’s choirs. In addition, she instituted the Organist’s Assistant Program for grades three through twelve. She received a B.A. at Middlebury College in Vermont, and has completed additional undergraduate and graduate studies in choral, organ, piano, theory, composition, theater and pedagogy studies. A former executive board member of the Northern Virginia and Washington DC American Guild of Organists chapters, Linda is a member in a number of professional organizations including the American Choral Conductors Association, the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, Choristers Guild, Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association, the National Federation of Music Teachers, and is certified by the American College of Musicians. She also has had a successful music studio for children and adults and is often called on to judge a variety of music competitions and festivals.
Linda brings creativity, commitment to excellence in music, a team spirit and passion for worship planning to her work at Trinity. She invites you to contact her at music@trinityalexandria.org and hopes you will become a part of Trinity’s music program.
