Gleaning and Resilience - February 16, 2025
This Sunday we continue our sermon series on the book of Ruth. In this weeks story, we see that Ruth and Naomi had to glean to survive. Gleaning was a biblical practice to ensure that the poor, the immigrant, the widow, and the orphan had food to eat. Gleaning was not a suggestion or a recommendation, but a requirement for the land. This passage has challenged me to consider how we think about public safety nets, and our responsibility for caring for those most in need.
